There is a Chinese saying “If you want happiness for an hour, take a nap. If you want happiness for a day, go fishing. If you want happiness for a year, inherit a fortune. If you want happiness for a lifetime, help somebody.”

Now helping someone will not only make that person happy but it may just be the secret to living a life that is not only happier for you but also healthier, wealthier, more productive, and more meaningful.

And what could be a more powerful act of showing kindness than helping an orphan or an orphanage?

Helping orphanages and orphans have grown in popularity as tourism gets more global. Orphanages themselves, as well as several institutions, NGOs, churches, and mission organizations, can set up placements.

How Do Children End up in Orphanages?

We usually think that when a child loses his/her both parents, he is regarded as an orphan. Most of the time, this is the case when a child ends up in an orphanage. But there are also many children who have extended families or relatives but are still found in orphanages.

This could be because of a couple of reasons. Either the families abandoned them because they couldn’t afford to take care of them, or they are taken because of the abuse coming from the families. Now, do you know that sometimes children also face abuse in orphanages as well? And this results in negative impacts on their lives when they grow.

Why Should You Help Orphans?

Well, don’t you want a world where everyone gets the right to live a life that one truly deserves?

Look at it from this angle, what if you would be one who ended up in an orphanage where there is a big crowd and not enough food let alone enough resources for you to grow normally? See?

Now you would better realize why all kids, but especially orphans, require a secure environment to develop.

The possibility that orphans will escape the vicious cycle of poverty and make a positive difference in underdeveloped areas improves when we take care of them and provide them with the necessities like food, clean clothing, and access to education.

Supporting orphanages and orphans helps advance children’s empowerment, literacy, and wellness. And you can claim to have changed the world and improved someone’s life when you support an orphanage.

Are There Any Benefits for You in Helping Orphans and Orphanages?

Sure, there are so many benefits for you in this work of helping mankind in general. Some of them are as follows.

You will learn about yourself

You get the chance to learn things about yourself that you did not know you possessed when you work with orphanages and orphans. You get to realize your hidden abilities and emotions so you can be able to utilize them further in the future.

Your Skills will be improved

Volunteering will enable you to broaden your skill set by branching out and attempting something new. When you consistently engage in novel and fascinating situations, you may discover new passions, interests, and hobbies. It is incredible how much one youngster can teach you or engage with you.

It will affect Your Mental as well as Physical Health

From physical activity to social interaction during a volunteering project, it has been shown to be beneficial for both psychological and physical health. Working on a volunteer project that you are passionate about and that fits your skill set can help you build a healthy sense of self-worth and will help you choose your future professional path as well.

How Can You Change Their Lives?

By taking care of them and giving them your right attention, you can participate in improving all those orphans’ lives. There are a number of NGOs, Charities, and Orphan Homes that are working for the betterment of orphans, and you can volunteer in helping them or try to provide for the children in many ways.

Supporting children’s lives and giving them the tools, they need to grow content and reliable adults is a great undertaking. But finding the ideal charity to support this endeavor is quite essential as well.

Additionally, not all charities have always had the same reach or methods of operation. So, it is essential to recognize each person’s distinctive qualities and give to someone whose principles align with your own.

Some of the best charities and foundations working for Orphans include Worldwide Orphans, World Orphans, and Orphans International Worldwide.

And there are local charities like the Emmanuel Osemota Foundation, that are reliable and doing the most good in local communities.

Whatever your motivation for supporting orphans, you may discover volunteering or internship opportunities that meet your requirements and provide you the chance to see the globe in fresh and fascinating ways.
